Deck-Armor Premium Breathable Roof Deck Protection is GAF's breathable synthetic roof underlayment, which GAF says, unlike typical synthetic underlayments, helps keep inside moisture from becoming trapped in the roof system while giving a secondary layer of wind-driven rain protection. The UV-stabilized polypropylene sheet comes in 48 in. (1.22 m) wide rolls of approximately 43 lb (19.5 kg), has a slip-resistant surface, resists UV degradation for up to 180 days, and per GAF's ASTM D4533 trapezoidal tear testing has at least 600% greater tear strength than standard #30 asphalt felt; GAF stresses it is water resistant but not waterproof and must not be used as a temporary roof. It is recommended for asphalt shingle roofs and may be used under certain slate, wood, metal or tile systems with GAF's approval. GAF states it achieves an ANSI/UL 790 Class A fire rating as a component of UL Classified roofing assemblies, and says it can be used to comply with certain FORTIFIED Roof requirements in the U.S.
