Cedar shakes from G&R Cedar that are smooth on both sides like a shingle but have the thickness of a shake, for a heavier shadow line. G&R lists Number 1 Certi-Sawn tapersawns in 18 and 24 in. lengths at 5/8 in., with custom thicknesses available, in both Western Red Cedar and Alaskan Yellow Cedar. Its limited warranty lists Number 1 and Premium Grade taper sawn shakes at 40 years for 5/8 in. and 50 years for 3/4 in. thickness in either length.
