EpiStrip is Epilay's granulated self-adhered starter roll, used in place of a nailed three-tab shingle as the starter course, with a self-adhering bottom and a self-sealing strip on the granulated side to resist wind uplift at the edge. It may be adhered directly to the roof deck or to most shingle underlayments, and its adhesive self-seals around nails, screws and staples. The technical data sheet prints a 55 mil nominal thickness, 7.2-inch by 33.5-foot rolls packed six to a carton, thermal stability to 250 F and passing ASTM D1970 results for unrollability and nail sealability; the page states Texas Department of Insurance approval. Epilay's limited lifetime warranty is void if the product is left uncovered for more than 180 days.
