Tyvek Protec 120 is a four-layer synthetic roofing underlayment whose embossed non-woven top layer carries grooves for dirt and water flow over a lamination layer that acts as the water barrier, a woven polypropylene scrim and a slip-resistant deck-side coating; DuPont markets it for slopes of 2:12 or higher under a variety of roofing materials in repair, re-roofing and new construction, in 48-inch by 250-foot rolls. The product information sheet prints a nominal thickness of 0.248 mm (9.76 mils), trapezoid tear strength of 25 lbf MD and 40 lbf CD, tensile strength of 88.5 lbf MD and 79.4 lbf CD to ASTM D751, permeability below 0.05 perms, and a Class A fire rating pass to ASTM E108, and lists ASTM D8257, ASTM E108 and ICC-ES AC188 (per Intertek CCRR-0394) with Florida Building Code, HVHZ and Miami-Dade listings. Its test table also reports a pass for liquid water transmission to ASTM D4869, a row the 160 and 200 tables do not carry. It is backed by a 30-year limited warranty, and DuPont's installation guide requires it to be covered by the final roof cladding within 3 months.
