Defend-R is a flat rigid roof insulation board with a closed-cell polyisocyanurate core faced on both sides with fiber-reinforced facers (GRF), made with light and dark facer sides to control adhesive flash-off. It is sold in 4 by 4 and 4 by 8 foot panels from 1 to 4.5 inches thick (LTTR R-5.7 to R-26.8), in 20 psi Grade 2 or 25 psi Grade 3, and as straight, bevel and flute-fill cuts. The TDS lists ASTM C1289 Type II Class 1, Florida approval FL 46439, ICC-ES ESR-5453, UL 1256, UL 263 and FM 4450 and 4470. It is approved for direct application to steel decks and listed for single-ply, modified bitumen, built-up and standing seam metal roofs.
