Defend-R Nail Base is a composite roof insulation panel of closed-cell polyisocyanurate with a fiber-reinforced facer on one side and a nailable wood layer on the other: 7/16 or 5/8 inch OSB, or 5/8 or 3/4 inch CDX or fire-treated plywood. Overall thicknesses run 1.5 to 4 inches (LTTR R-6.3 to R-21.1 with 7/16 inch OSB), in 20 psi Grade 2 foam, with rabbeted wood edges. It is listed for standing seam metal, heavyweight shingle, tile, slate and single-ply roofs on new and re-roof work. The TDS lists ASTM C1289 Type V, Florida approval FL 46431, ICC-ES ESR-5453, hail ratings SH-1 and VSH, UL 1256, UL 263 and FM 4450 and 4470.
