WinterGuard Granular, Sand and Sand X are CertainTeed's self-adhering, SBS-modified asphalt waterproofing shingle underlayments with a sand or granule top surface and a split release film, used at eaves, valleys and as a full underlayment on low slopes (minimum 2:12) under shingle, slate and mechanically fastened tile. The data sheet gives 3 ft. x 65 ft. rolls (195 sq. ft.; a 97.5 sq. ft. short Sand roll is also made), 60 mils typical (55 for Sand X), with a maximum exposure of six months. Sand and Granular carry ICC-ES ESR-1492, Florida FL 11288 and Miami-Dade approval; Sand X carries NEMO NER-CTR-003 and Florida FL 46783; all are UL 790 classified as underlayment beneath Class A, B or C asphalt shingles.
