SwiftStart SA is a granule-surfaced, self-adhered 50-mil membrane sold in rolls as a starter strip at eaves and rakes, with a sealing strip at the roof edge to resist wind uplift and no shingle tabs to cut. CertainTeed's installation guide says it meets ASTM D1970, seals around nails, can go directly on the deck or over compatible self-adhered underlayments, overhangs eaves and rakes by 1/4 in. to 3/4 in., overlaps new rolls by 6 in., and should be covered by shingles the same day.
