FM 4473 Class 3The Solstice Shingle is CertainTeed's 70-watt solar shingle, made to sit in the field of an asphalt shingle roof and fastened directly to the roof sheathing with standard deck screws so shingle crews can install it. The March 2025 data sheet prints a 46 in x 13-5/8 in exposed area, a weight of 12.7 lb (2.3 lb per square foot), 14 monocrystalline PERC cells in series with two bypass diodes, 19.85% active cell efficiency, a design load of +2400/-1600 Pa and a minimum roof pitch of 2/12. It lists UL 61730-1,2, CSA C22.2#61730-1,2, BIPV UL 7103, UL 3741 (NEC 690.12 compliant), fire certification UL 790 Class A & C (the sheet does not say which applies when), wind classification ASTM D3161 Class F 110 mph, impact resistance FM4473 Class 3, a California CEC listing, and Florida Building Code HVHZ approval (Vasd 150 mph, Vult 194 mph) with no approval number printed. Warranties on the sheet are a 25-year limited power warranty, a 25-year limited workmanship warranty and a 10-year 110 mph limited wind warranty; CertainTeed's solar page says the roof around the solar shingles can be finished in roofing materials up to 1 in thick and that single shingles can be removed and replaced.
