Independence is a CertainTeed fiber glass-based asphalt shingle with randomly placed laminated tabs on a full-size base shingle and a smooth surface blend, styled after wood shakes and slate. CertainTeed's data sheet gives 12 in by 36 in overall dimensions, a 5 in weather exposure and about 250 lb per square, and lists algae resistance and UL 2218 Class 1 impact resistance.
