A double-leaf automatic roof smoke vent for large buildings such as warehouses, whose covers open when a UL listed fusible link melts or the latch is released by hand, venting smoke, heat and gases for firefighters. Standard sizes run from 48 in. x 48 in. to 72 in. x 72 in. (and 66 in. x 144 in. with four covers) in galvanized steel, steel curb with aluminum cover, or aluminum. The guide specification calls for UL listing and compliance with UL 793 and UL 790 Class A (burning brand test), covers that open against a 10 psf snow or wind load, a latch that holds against 90 psf uplift, and a 12 in. insulated curb with integral capflashing.
