Elasto-Barrier is a gray, water-based elastomeric base coat used mainly as a roof primer in Ames roof coating systems, including on tar-and-gravel roofs subject to ponding water and with embedded reinforcing fabric. It must be top-coated with an Ames UV-resistant coating. Its technical data sheet lists an acrylic, neoprene and styrene-butadiene blend, 41% volume solids, VOC under 5 g/L, elongation up to 1200% at 20 mils dry film, and coverage of 1 gallon per 64 sq ft at 10 mils dry film per coat. It is sold in 1-gallon, 5-gallon, 55-gallon and 250-gallon sizes.
