Red Oxide Rust Prime 912 is a water-based red acrylic primer used to inhibit rust on metal roofs and as an adhesion bonding primer before roof coatings are applied. Its product data sheet states it was developed to adhere to difficult metal substrates and give flash rust and corrosion resistance over carbon steel, and reports 40 percent solids by volume and a 2 to 3 hour drying time. It is ready to use without thinning and comes in 5- and 55-gallon packaging.
