Solar SnowMax Universal (SSM-U) is a fence-style snow retention system mounted on the leading (eave) edge of a solar array rather than on the roof. Preassembled aluminum brackets clamp directly to solar panel frames 30 to 48 mm thick, with end brackets at each end of the row and an 8 foot aluminum bar with a 2 inch slot for an optional color insert. The specification sheet sets a maximum of 68 inches between clamps with at least one clamp per panel joint, requires panels rated for a mechanical load of at least 5,400 Pa, calls for approval by the solar array design engineer, and offers a leveling shim for rail-less racking.
