Registration details
  • license: Contractors and subcontractors must hold a current Town of Wellington contractor license before applying for building permits or gaining access to the Community Core online permitting system.
Permit process note
Building permits must be posted and visible from the street prior to work beginning. Permits are valid for 180 days, with extensions requiring a written request and justifiable cause. Repair or replacement of less than one square (100 square feet) of shingles does not require a building permit.
Inspection requirements
The permit holder must call for a Final Roof inspection; a mid-roof inspection may also be required depending on the project, per the Building Department. A ladder must be set and secured for all roof inspections prior to the inspection taking place, and the permit card must be available for signing at the time of inspection.

The Town of Wellington's 2021 roofing regulations are based on the 2018 International Residential Code with local amendments, the 2020 National Electrical Code, and the 2018 International Energy Conservation Code.
