Permit process note
Springfield's Municipal Code Chapter 18 (Building Regulations) shows its building-code adoption sections repealed: the editor's note states "Ord. No. 356, adopted July 13, 2023, repealed section 18-1, which pertained to building code adopted and derived from Ord. No. 296 ... adopted July 10, 2008." Sections 18-1 through 18-24 are Reserved, so no locally adopted IRC/IBC edition is currently codified. The 2006 International Fire Code remains adopted (section 18-25), and electrical work requires a permit from the town electrical inspector under Chapter 18, Article III. The town's department list includes no building department; contact Town Hall to confirm current requirements before roofing work.

The 2006 International Fire Code remains adopted as the town's fire code.
