Permit process note
The Otero County Building Official is responsible for administration of the Otero County Building Code, including issuance of building permits and conducting necessary building inspections. The department is located at Otero County Public Works, 411 N. 10th St, Rocky Ford, open 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Inspection requirements
Permits require 1 business day of advance notice, and inspections require 3 business days of advance notice.

Otero County has adopted the International Building Code 2006, the International Residential Code 2006, the International Mechanical Code 2006, the International Fuel and Gas Code 2006, the International Energy Conservation Code 2018, and the Uniform Code for Abatement of Dangerous Buildings 1997.
