Registration details
  • license: Building Services licenses plumbing contractors per Section 4-1-4(B) of the city code; plumbing licenses require an application, proof of a valid state plumber's license, and an annual fee, and expire December 31 each year. Contractor licensing applications have been moved to Cloudpermit, an online application system. The Building Services page does not list a city license requirement specific to roofing contractors.
Permit process note
The city administers a Roofing Permit Application among its building permit types. Beginning January 1, 2027, all building-related permit applications will be submitted electronically through Cloudpermit; contractor licensing has already moved to that system.
Inspection requirements
Building inspections are scheduled by calling the inspection request line at 970-240-1445, Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The City of Montrose has adopted the 2018 editions of the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), and related International Codes, along with the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC).
