Applications may be submitted online through the CityWorks Public Access Portal or in person at the Community Development office on the second floor of City Hall. The city's own monthly Building Permits Summary reports list "Res Roofing Permit" and "Com Roofing Permit" as permit types distinct from general building permits, issued monthly to residential and commercial roofing contractors.

The city's monthly Inspections Summary reports list "Res Roofing Inspection," "Res Roofing Reinspection," and "Com Roofing Inspection" as distinct inspection types performed under issued roofing permits (for example, 22 Res Roofing Inspections and 3 Res Roofing Reinspections were recorded for March 2026).
