Permit process note
The county requires a permit for all replacement roofing over 100 square feet; new roofs are included with a new structure building permit. One layer of asphalt shingles is allowed with no overlays, meaning a complete tear-off to the exposed deck is required. Ice barrier and flashing are required per the referenced IRC sections. No permit is required for structures 120 square feet or smaller, and electrical and plumbing permits are issued by the State of Colorado rather than the county.
Inspection requirements
Logan County does not require roofing inspections but recommends them if issues should arise. Other building inspections are requested at least 24 hours in advance through the Planning and Zoning Department at 970-522-7879; electrical and plumbing inspections are performed by the State of Colorado.
Adopted code
Logan County enforces the 2006 International Building Code, 2006 International Residential Code, 2006 International Mechanical Code, 2006 International Energy Conservation Code, and the 2006 International Fuel and Gas Code.
