City of Las Animas - Building Permits

The building permit authority for the City of Las Animas, Bent County (not to be confused with the separate, larger Las Animas County, seat Trinidad). The city publishes its own Building Permit Application and hosts its municipal code on Municode, indicating it runs its own permitting rather than delegating to Bent County. Roofing-permit specifics, contractor licensing/registration requirements, permit process, inspections, and adopted code are not published in any accessible source.

Impact-resistant roofing
Not required — The City of Las Animas adopts the International Building Code and International Residential Code at its recodified building chapter, which carries 2003 and 2006 edition references, and the Colorado Energy Office's statewide building code adoption record lists the 2006 edition for the City. The building chapter and its amendment lists were reviewed in full. The chapter contains no roof covering requirement, no impact resistance requirement and no reference to UL 2218 or Class 4 roof coverings; its only occurrence of the word cover in a roofing sense is a requirement that incinerators and ash pits have a fire-proof cover.
