Registration details
  • license: Contractors must be licensed with the City of Lamar, submitting proof of $100,000 liability insurance, workers' compensation documentation, a completed application, the license fee, and a city business tax license.
Permit process note
A building permit is required except when the type of work is considered to be aesthetic (e.g. painting, changing carpet). The Building Department enforces codes in the City of Lamar and for properties connecting to city water/wastewater within a 3-mile radius of the city limits. Building permits expire if work has not begun within 90 days from the date of issuance, or if not substantially completed within two years of issuance.
Inspection requirements
The city conducts inspections Monday through Friday, 9 am to 3 pm; applicants must call at least 24 hours in advance. The City of Lamar does not provide electrical, interior plumbing, or gas line inspections; those are conducted through the State of Colorado.
