Permit process note

The Town's Building Permit/Zoning Compliance page states: "Any site preparation, new construction, or major remodel requires a Building/Zoning Compliance Approval... Applicants are also required to obtain a Building Permit from Mesa County, the building code administrative entity for De Beque." The Building Safety and Permitting page adds that the Town "contracts with the Mesa County Building Department to provide construction permit and inspection services" and advises contacting the Building Department at (970) 244-1651 before starting a project, noting information is also on the Mesa County website.

The Town's own page states De Beque "ensures safety in both new construction and remodels by adopting the most up to date versions of the International Codes in effect in Mesa County." Mesa County's Adopted Codes and Regulations page lists the 2024 International Building Code and 2024 International Residential Code (effective September 1, 2025), alongside the 2024 International Existing Building Code, 2024 International Mechanical Code, and 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.
