Custer County is zoned by density and has not adopted a building code for structures in the unincorporated area; per the county's Zoning Resolution, "[b]ecause there is not a building code, structures are permitted through the zoning permit process." Zoning permits are required for dwellings and additions, and for accessory structures (or additions to them) of 100 square feet or more.
