Registration details
- license: Any person or business performing construction work within the Town of Basalt must obtain a Town of Basalt Contractor License. Roofing contractors must hold a B.E.S.T. Card roofing credential (or an approved reciprocal credential), issued to the individual test-taker rather than the company. B.E.S.T. testing is not currently offered in Basalt; roofing contractors may test through the City of Aspen, Town of Snowmass Village, City of Glenwood Springs, or Town of Silt.
Permit process note
Building permit applications are submitted through the CloudPermit online portal. As of May 2017 the Building Department does not conduct inspections or site visits on Mondays or Fridays.

The Town of Basalt has adopted the 2021 ICC codes (IBC/IRC), the 2023 National Electrical Code, and the 2024 Sustainable Building Regulations I and II amendments.
