What a listing is, and what it is not

The Roofing Book documents roofing materials, products, manufacturers, suppliers, permitting authorities and trade organizations, and every fact on a page traces back to a source. Your organization is listed because it appears in those sources.

A listing is a citation, not a review. It does not mean we verified, endorsed, rated or approved anyone, and the badge below says nothing of the kind. There is no ranking to buy and no placement to pay for.

The promise this page makes

  • Something wrong? Tell us and it is corrected within 72 hours.
  • Would rather not be listed? Say so and the listing is removed the same day, no questions asked.
  • Nothing changes on the site automatically. A claim reaches a person, who applies it in the next content update. A web form does not get write access to sourced pages.

How a claim is confirmed

If you write from an address on the same domain as the website your listing already cites, the claim is confirmed straight away, because controlling that domain is the credential. Everything else, including a personal mailbox, reaches the same inbox and gets checked by a person.

The only thing checked automatically is the domain half of the address you write from. Your address is used to reply to you and to record who asked for the change; it is not added to a mailing list and it is never published or sold.

Claim a listing

On your listing page, it is the final segment of the URL.

An address on your company's own domain confirms the claim immediately. Any other address is fine too, it just gets checked by a person.

The badge, once your listing is confirmed

Claimed organizations are welcome to show this on their own site. It links to your listing, not to our homepage, so it is useful to your visitors. Two variants, for light and dark backgrounds:

Does claiming a listing cost anything?

No. There is nothing to buy on this page and no paid placement anywhere in the directory.

Can I have my organization removed?

Yes. Say so on the form or email [email protected] and the listing is removed the same day, no questions asked.

Why was my organization listed without being asked?

The directory documents organizations from published sources, the way a reference work cites the things it describes. That is why every listing carries a correction and removal route, and why this page exists.

How long until a correction appears?

Within 72 hours. Corrections are applied by a person in the next content update rather than written straight to the page by the form.

Do I have to display the badge?

No. It is optional, and your listing is unaffected either way.
